Który BMW iDrive Mam? CIC, NBT, NBT EVO i MGU Wyjaśnione

Which BMW iDrive Do I Have? CIC, NBT, NBT EVO and MGU Explained

Almost every BMW question — can I get Apple CarPlay, why does it want an FSC code, will this map update work — has the same first step: knowing which iDrive system your car actually has.

How to Identify Your iDrive

Go to iDrive Settings → About/System. The software version shown there tells you the generation. Alternatively, send us your VIN and we'll identify it exactly.

CIC (Car Information Computer) — 2008-2016

Found in E-series and early F-series BMWs. Map format: Premium/Move/Motion. Supports basic navigation, no native CarPlay. Uses traditional FSC codes for map activation.

NBT (Next) — 2012-2017

The F-series successor to CIC. Map format: Next. No native CarPlay (can be added by firmware update to EVO on some units). Clear, fast menus with iDrive 4/5.

NBT EVO (ID4/ID5/ID6) — 2016-2023

Major upgrade with touchscreen and CarPlay support. Map format: EVO. Wireless CarPlay possible with coding. Full-screen CarPlay needs activation. Needs FSC codes for map updates.

MGU (iDrive 7/8/9) — 2019+

The current generation in G-series BMWs. Map format: Live/Joy. OTA map updates when Connected Package is active. Wireless CarPlay factory fitted. Protected coding needed for feature activations.
