The DPF and EGR systems are closely linked in modern diesel engine management. The DPF then captures the soot from the exhaust, requiring periodic regeneration cycles that increase fuel consumption and engine oil dilution.
Disabling one system without the other often provides incomplete results. With EGR still active, the engine continues to ingest soot-laden exhaust gases even after DPF removal. With DPF still active but EGR disabled, the filter may regenerate less frequently but still imposes exhaust backpressure.
