Miért Kér FSC Kódot BMW-je a Térkép Frissítése Után

Why Your BMW Asks for an FSC Code After the Map Update

You've loaded the map files, the USB is detected, the install begins — and then your BMW asks for an activation code. This is normal. Here's exactly why it happens and how to fix it.

Why the Car Asks for a Code

BMW's navigation systems (CIC, NBT, NBT EVO) use a digital rights management system for map data. The map files themselves are free — but BMW requires an FSC (Freischaltcode) to activate them on your specific car. The code is calculated against your VIN, so a code from a different car won't work.

What the FSC Code Is

A 20-digit alphanumeric activation key tied to your VIN. It tells the head unit: "this map data is licensed for this vehicle." Without it, the data is present but not activated.

MGU/iDrive 7+ Is Different

On newer MGU cars, map activation works through the BMW account and Connected Package, not a classic FSC code. If you have an MGU car, the process is account-based rather than code-entry.

Common FSC Code Errors

  • Code rejected — wrong map generation or wrong VIN
  • Code not recognised — wrong format for your head unit type
  • Code works but map doesn't load — usually a USB format or file extraction issue
  • Lifetime code showing expired — verify the code type matches your system

How to Get the Right Code

Send us your VIN and we generate the correct FSC code for your exact head unit and map version — usually delivered within 1-2 hours.
