How remote tuning works

All you need is:

  • Laptop
  • ENET cable
  • Internet connection
  1. Connect your ENET cable to the car's OBD2 port and to your laptop.
  2. Open UltraViewer on your laptop (TeamViewer or AnyDesk also work).
  3. Let our technician connect to your laptop and run the session while you watch.

Remote tuning means we work on your car the same way a workshop tech would, except the technician is in another country. The cable, the laptop, and the OBD2 port do the heavy lifting; we drive the keyboard.

After you book the appointment, you follow the three steps above. Our technician handles everything from there: reading the ECU, applying the requested changes, verifying the result, writing it back. The session itself usually takes 30–60 minutes depending on the service.

You provide the laptop (Windows), a stable internet connection, a 12V power source for the car (a battery charger is recommended for longer sessions), and an ENET cable for your model. ENET cables are widely available online — if you already own one, that works too. We provide the diagnostic software, the step-by-step instructions, and the live technician.

If anything goes wrong during the session — connection drop, software hiccup, anything — we restore the original ECU file before disconnecting. Nothing leaves your car worse than we found it.

Service Overview

Remote coding for the newest BMW generation

Tempadrive provides remote coding, software updates and new-module coding for supported new-generation BMW vehicles from 2026 onward, including the BMW iX3 NA5/NA05 and the updated G70 7 Series. Before accepting a session, we check the VIN, production date, current software level, exact control unit and requested operation.

On these architectures, connecting a computer to the OBD port does not automatically grant every coding or programming function. Secure communication, authenticated diagnostic access and signed coding data require a compatible workflow. Tempadrive supplies the secure remote route, confirms the supported scope and verifies the result after the operation.

Important: “BMW 2026+” is a search-facing description of the target generation. It does not mean every BMW registered or sold in 2026 uses the same architecture. BMW continued selling earlier platforms during the transition, so the final answer always comes from the VIN and vehicle data.

Connection required: you need a BMW-compatible ENET cable (OBD to Ethernet), a Windows laptop and stable internet. Software updates and new-module work also require a suitable regulated automotive power supply.

Available service types

ServiceWhat is includedPre-check
Remote codingCoding a supported existing ECU or applying the correct vehicle configuration after legitimate repair or retrofit workVIN, production date, I-level, ECU and requested change
Software updateUpdating the vehicle or supported control units through the appropriate secure programming routeCurrent I-level, update path, interface, connection and battery support
New-module codingCoding a supported new replacement control unit to the vehicle configurationVIN, complete ECU part number, new-part status and any additional validation requirement

1. Remote coding

Remote coding is used for supported vehicle functions, configuration corrections and recoding an existing compatible control unit after legitimate vehicle work. Support depends on the exact ECU and operation; a successful diagnostic connection does not prove that every write function is available.

2. Software updates

Software updates are performed only after the current I-level, required update route and recovery conditions have been checked. The laptop must remain powered, the vehicle must have regulated battery support, and neither the ENET nor internet connection may be interrupted during a write operation.

3. Coding a new module after replacement

A supported new control unit may require coding to the vehicle configuration before a repair is complete. We verify the exact part number, VIN, market, current I-level and required workflow before the session. If the repair also needs ECU validation, feature entitlement or another legitimate backend-controlled step, we identify that requirement during the pre-check.

This advertised service covers supported new replacement modules. Used control units are not automatically included and require a separate case review before purchase or installation.

Region changes are not currently supported by this new-generation service. For compatible earlier BMW architectures, see the existing BMW Remote Services catalogue.

G45 is the combustion/PHEV BMW X3 generation. It is not the Neue Klasse iX3. A registration year, model badge or successful session on a different chassis is not enough to approve secure coding. Market, production month, I-level, ECU and requested operation can all change the route.

How the remote session works

  1. VIN pre-check: send the 17-character VIN privately, country, requested result and any replacement ECU part number. Do not post a complete VIN in a public review or forum.
  2. Route confirmation: we confirm whether the exact coding, update or new-module operation is supported and list the required equipment before payment.
  3. Authorization and connection: the owner authorizes the vehicle-specific work. An attendant must remain with the car throughout the session.
  4. Coding or programming: we record the relevant vehicle/software state and execute only the agreed operation. The scope is not expanded without approval.
  5. Verification: we check the resulting software/configuration state, relevant faults and any necessary next action before closing the session.

Customer requirements

  • BMW-compatible ENET cable (OBD to Ethernet);
  • Windows 10/11 64-bit laptop;
  • built-in Ethernet or a compatible USB-to-Ethernet adapter;
  • stable internet through Wi-Fi or a separate network adapter while ENET is connected;
  • laptop charger;
  • suitable regulated automotive power supply for software updates and new-module work;
  • customer or workshop attendant at the vehicle for the complete session.

A Bluetooth OBD adapter or phone is not a substitute for the ENET connection and Windows laptop. We confirm the exact power-supply and preparation requirements after checking the planned operation.

What this service does not promise

  • It is not a permanent or universal “unlock” of the vehicle.
  • It does not make every ECU and every function writable.
  • It does not bypass ownership, entitlement or security-related repair checks.
  • It does not guarantee that a modification is invisible to BMW systems.
  • It cannot be described as warranty-neutral for every operation.
  • It does not guarantee acceptance of a used module.
  • It does not currently include region changes.

Sec4Diag, SP25 and the cable are different layers

NA5 identifies the iX3 vehicle series. SP25 is used for a BMW software-architecture or service-pack family. Sec4Diag refers to secured diagnostic access in the BMW tool ecosystem. The ENET cable only provides the local OBD-to-Ethernet connection; it does not supply authenticated access, signed coding data or programming logic.

Secure diagnostics can involve protected DoIP communication and UDS Authentication Service 0x29. Coding-data security, feature activation and ECU validation remain separate permissions. This is why a tool may read faults but still be unable to code, flash or commission a replacement module.

Frequently asked questions

What can Tempadrive do on supported new-generation BMWs?

The current scope is remote coding, software updates and coding a supported new replacement module. Compatibility is checked from the VIN, production date, I-level, ECU and requested operation.

Is this done with an ordinary Radmin or TeamViewer session?

No ordinary remote-desktop workflow is assumed. We provide the secure connection route and equipment instructions after checking the VIN and requested operation. Remote desktop may be used only as one part of an approved workflow where appropriate.

Which cable is required?

A BMW-compatible ENET cable (OBD to Ethernet) is required. The laptop must retain stable internet, normally through Wi-Fi or a second network adapter, while its Ethernet connection is attached to the vehicle.

Can every control unit on an SP25 car be coded?

No universal claim is made. Diagnostic authentication, gateway permissions, signed coding data, feature entitlement and ECU validation are separate gates. We confirm the exact ECU and operation before booking.

Can you change the vehicle region?

No. Region changes are not currently supported for this new-generation service.

Does “2026+” mean every BMW registered in 2026?

No. BMW sold previous-generation and new-architecture vehicles during the transition. The VIN, production date, software architecture and exact operation determine the correct route.

Is SP25 the new BMW diagnostic protocol?

No. SP25 is a software-architecture or service-pack label. DoIP, TLS and UDS are diagnostic communication and security layers; UDS Service 0x29 is used for authenticated access.

Is G45 the new iX3?

No. G45 is the combustion/PHEV BMW X3 generation. The Neue Klasse BMW iX3 uses the NA5/NA05 series designation.

Can you code a replacement module?

The confirmed scope includes coding a supported new module after replacement. Used-module support varies by ECU and workflow and is not included automatically. Send the VIN and complete part details before buying or installing the module.

Will coding affect the warranty?

No responsible provider can guarantee that every coding or programming operation is warranty-neutral. We document the requested work and do not describe modifications as universally undetectable or warranty-safe.

What happens if the connection drops during programming?

Programming is accepted only with the required power supply, stable connection and a defined recovery route. The preparation, abort conditions and recovery steps are confirmed before a write operation starts.

Check compatibility before booking

Send the VIN, country, requested service, exact ECU part number if a module has been replaced, confirmation that the replacement is new, and confirmation that an ENET cable, Windows laptop and suitable battery power supply are available. Tempadrive will confirm the supported route, equipment, session scope and price before work begins.
