Region Change (Head Unit)
Remote navigation region change for BMW & MINI head units — NBT, NBT EVO, ENTRYNAV2 and MGU (iDrive 7, 8, 8.5, 9). All world regions, latest maps and system language, done over ENET.
How remote tuning works
All you need is:
- Laptop
- ENET cable
- Internet connection
- Connect your ENET cable to the car's OBD2 port and to your laptop.
- Open UltraViewer on your laptop (TeamViewer or AnyDesk also work).
- Let our technician connect to your laptop and run the session while you watch.
Remote tuning means we work on your car the same way a workshop tech would, except the technician is in another country. The cable, the laptop, and the OBD2 port do the heavy lifting; we drive the keyboard.
After you book the appointment, you follow the three steps above. Our technician handles everything from there: reading the ECU, applying the requested changes, verifying the result, writing it back. The session itself usually takes 30–60 minutes depending on the service.
You provide the laptop (Windows), a stable internet connection, a 12V power source for the car (a battery charger is recommended for longer sessions), and an ENET cable for your model. ENET cables are widely available online — if you already own one, that works too. We provide the diagnostic software, the step-by-step instructions, and the live technician.
If anything goes wrong during the session — connection drop, software hiccup, anything — we restore the original ECU file before disconnecting. Nothing leaves your car worse than we found it.

What head-unit region change actually does
Region Change (Head Unit) reconfigures the navigation computer in your BMW or MINI to a different world region. It sets the correct map region, installs the latest maps, switches the system language, and retunes the radio band — all remotely, without removing or replacing the head unit.
This is the fix for the classic problems that appear after a car is imported from another market: the map screen opens but the map is empty, the car does not show your current position, the menus are in the wrong language, or the radio cannot tune local stations. When you need it
Head-unit region change is almost always needed on imported cars. A BMW brought from the USA to Europe will usually show an empty map and no vehicle position, because the navigation is still set to the US region and has no European map data. Changing the region and writing European maps restores full navigation with the correct roads, points of interest, speed limits and traffic. How the remote session works
- Send your VIN — we confirm your head unit and the price.
- Connect the car to your laptop with an ENET cable, ignition on.
- We join your laptop over TeamViewer/AnyDesk and perform the region change and map install.
- You restart the car and the maps, language and radio are set for the new region.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to replace the head unit?
No. The region change is a software reconfiguration of your existing head unit. Nothing is removed from the car.
Will I get the latest maps?
Yes, the latest available maps for your new region are written during the session. You can also grab free maps any time from our BMW maps section.
My map is empty and there is no GPS position — is that this service?
Yes. That is the typical symptom of a wrong region after an import, and this service fixes it.
What about lights, speedometer and airbags?
Those are vehicle-level conversions, covered by our Full Region Change service.
Does it work worldwide?
Yes. Everything is done remotely over ENET, so location does not matter as long as you have a stable connection.
