Description

Complete the software side of a BMW Active Cruise Control retrofit without shipping the radar module or taking the car to a coding workshop. TempaDrive performs the MRR patch, activates the vehicle-specific 0x149 FSC and checks the required vehicle configuration in one live remote session.

This service is for a vehicle that already has the correct MRR radar and the required ACC retrofit hardware installed and connected. It does not add Active Cruise Control to a car through software alone. Send the VIN before ordering so we can confirm the radar type, chassis restriction and software route.

What the €150 service includes

IncludedWhat it means
Free compatibility checkWe review the VIN and confirm that the vehicle belongs to a supported MRR configuration before payment.
Live remote sessionThe work is performed through your ENET connection while you can see the session on your laptop.
MRR patchThe compatible radar module receives the software preparation required for the 0x149 activation route.
0x149 FSC activationThe FSC for the compatible vehicle is injected and its status is checked.
Configuration checksRelevant FA/VO and control-unit coding are reviewed and adjusted where the retrofit requires it.
Post-work verificationWe check module communication, activation status and ACC-related faults before disconnecting.

What is not included

This is a remote software service, not a hardware retrofit package. The following must already be present, correctly installed and suitable for the vehicle:

  • The correct MRR radar sensor and mounting hardware
  • Required wiring, connectors and power supply
  • Compatible steering-wheel controls and any other retrofit-specific components
  • Correct physical alignment and installation of the radar
  • A vehicle that is free from unresolved hardware faults which would prevent ACC operation

TempaDrive does not supply or install those components as part of this €150 service. If the hardware is incomplete, incorrectly fitted or incompatible, remote software activation cannot make it functional.

A chassis code is not a compatibility guarantee. BMW used different radar systems, equipment combinations and software levels within the same model range. The presence of a bumper radar also does not by itself prove that it is the correct MRR variant. Send the VIN—and, when requested, a diagnostic screenshot or radar part number—for confirmation.

Why the MRR patch and 0x149 FSC are both involved

The physical radar is only one layer of an ACC retrofit. The vehicle must recognize the equipment in its configuration, the MRR control unit must follow the appropriate software route, and the relevant FSC must be accepted. The 0x149 identifier is also known as AppID 329.

A retrofit can therefore reach the point where the radar communicates and still not provide working Active Cruise Control. Installing the FSC without preparing the compatible MRR—or patching the radar without completing the vehicle configuration—does not constitute a finished activation. Our session covers the connected software steps as one job and checks the result before handover.

Prepare the car before the appointment

RequiredWhy it matters
ENET cableProvides the diagnostic Ethernet connection between the BMW and laptop.
Windows PC or macOS computerHosts the remote connection and diagnostic tools used during the session.
Stable internetAn interrupted remote connection can delay diagnosis and programming.
TeamViewer or AnyDeskPreferred remote-access options; another reliable tool is acceptable when agreed in advance.
Healthy 12-volt supplyLow voltage can stop control units communicating or interrupt a software operation.
Completed hardware retrofitThe radar, wiring and controls must be installed and connected before software work starts.

The active procedure is usually fast on a prepared vehicle, but we do not promise a fixed number of minutes. Battery condition, internet quality, current software level, stored faults and the state of the previous retrofit all affect the appointment. A vehicle that arrives ready is normally much quicker than one that first needs a hardware or communication problem diagnosed.

How the remote activation works

  1. Send the VIN. Tell us which hardware has been installed and whether any previous coding has been attempted.
  2. Receive confirmation. We check the platform and explain any additional information required before accepting the job.
  3. Prepare the vehicle. Connect a suitable power supply where required, connect ENET and open the agreed remote-access application.
  4. Initial check. We identify the MRR, review communication and faults, and confirm the current vehicle configuration.
  5. Activation work. We apply the compatible MRR patch, activate the 0x149 FSC and complete the required coding checks.
  6. Verification. We confirm the activation state and review remaining ACC-related faults before ending the session.
  7. Road test. The owner performs the final functional test in a safe location and follows all BMW driver-assistance instructions.

Why use TempaDrive for this activation?

  • One accountable session. The patch, FSC activation and coding checks are not sold as unrelated fragments.
  • Compatibility before payment. We do not rely on a chassis list alone when radar type and software level can differ.
  • Clear hardware boundary. We tell you when a problem belongs to the physical retrofit instead of hiding it behind more coding.
  • Live verification. The technician checks activation and diagnostic status before disconnecting.
  • Established remote workflow. The same ENET-based process is used across our BMW FSC and remote-coding catalogue worldwide.
  • Transparent price. The complete remote software session costs €150, subject to the confirmed hardware being ready.

Important safety and scope notes

  • Active Cruise Control is a driver-assistance system, not autonomous driving. The driver remains responsible for speed, distance, braking and steering.
  • A radar installed at the wrong angle or position may require physical adjustment and calibration. Software activation cannot correct a mechanical installation error.
  • Existing DSC, braking, steering, camera or radar faults can prevent normal ACC operation and may need repair before the activation can be completed.
  • Later dealer programming or replacement of the MRR can change the software or FSC state. Contact us for diagnosis rather than assuming the original procedure still applies.
  • Availability and lawful use of a retrofit remain subject to local vehicle-modification and inspection rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can this add ACC to a completely standard car?

No. The required MRR radar, wiring, controls and other vehicle-specific hardware must already be installed. This listing completes the compatible software side of the retrofit.

Is every G-series BMW supported?

No. Support depends on the exact MRR hardware, software level and vehicle configuration. G30/G31, G11/G12 and G01 are limited to LCI vehicles for this service. Every order starts with a VIN check.

What does 0x149 mean?

0x149 is the hexadecimal application identifier used for this FSC route; it corresponds to AppID 329. It is only one part of a finished retrofit, which is why the MRR and vehicle coding are checked in the same session.

How long will the remote session take?

A straightforward, prepared car is usually completed quickly. There is no honest fixed-time promise because low battery voltage, poor internet, module faults, incompatible software or incomplete hardware can extend the work.

Can you use remote software other than TeamViewer or AnyDesk?

Yes. TeamViewer and AnyDesk are preferred, but another stable remote-access tool can be used when agreed before the appointment.

Does this activate every Driving Assistant Professional function?

No. This service is specifically for the compatible MRR and 0x149 Active Cruise Control retrofit route. It does not promise every camera, lane-control or higher driver-assistance function associated with a different hardware package.

What if the radar does not communicate?

We can identify the communication problem during the initial check, but wiring, power, connector, mounting or incompatible-hardware repairs are outside the software activation. Those issues must be corrected before the remote work can continue.

For a deeper explanation of the hardware/software boundary, compatibility restrictions and verification steps, read the BMW MRR patch and 0x149 FSC retrofit guide.

Ready to check the car? Send the VIN and a short list of the ACC hardware already installed. We will confirm whether this €150 remote activation is the correct next step before you pay.
