Self-Installation with BMW E-Sys (Step by Step)

If you choose the DIY option, all you need is an ENET (OBD-to-Ethernet) cable, a Windows laptop with BMW E-Sys installed, and a stable connection. The full illustrated guide is included with your order – here is the overview:

1. Connect the ENET cable between the car’s OBD port and your laptop, and switch the ignition on (engine off).
2. Open E-Sys and connect to the vehicle (connection via VIN / target gateway).
3. Read the FA (Vehicle Order / FA) from the gateway and activate it.
4. Open the FSC / Coding section and select the target module (DME / head unit as instructed for your car).
5. Import the 1CR FSC file we sent you and write (upload) the FSC to the module.
6. Verify the FSC status shows as accepted/valid.
7. Turn the ignition off and on, then enable Remote Engine Start in iDrive: Settings → Climate Comfort → Preconditioning / Remote Engine Start.
8. Test the 3-click start with your key fob.
